This 15 day unit from the Introduction to AFNR Course focuses on introducing students to biotechnology. Students will learn DNA, will be introduced to genetics, and will learn about not only the history of biotechnology, but also the current applications through several engaging labs and activities. Students will finish the unit by learning about genetic engineering and GMOs.

Lessons contain all of the resources necessary to successfully deliver the curriculum. Through detailed Instructor Guides, teachers will feel comfortable, no matter their experience, in teaching this unit. Instructor Guides include material lists, time breakdown for the lesson, national standards, instructor pre-work, and an explanation of each component of the lesson, including reflection and conclusion questions/answers.
