This 16 day unit from the Introduction to AFNR Course focuses on introducing students to food science. Students will learn about sensory evaluation, GMPs involved in the food industry, and how government agencies protect food products. Students will also participate in product development, learn how to read and interpret food nutrition labels and complete math calculations related to the food industry.
Lessons contain all of the resources necessary to successfully deliver the curriculum. Through detailed Instructor Guides, teachers will feel comfortable, no matter their experience, in teaching this unit. Instructor Guides include material lists, time breakdown for the lesson, national standards, instructor pre-work, and an explanation of each component of the lesson, including reflection and conclusion questions/answers.
