This 16-day Concrete and Masonry Unit from the Agricultural Mechanics Course (coming soon) focuses on the concrete and masonry career pathways. Students will identify components of concrete and mortar, as well as tools used in both careers. Students will calculate concrete volume and cost, compressive stress, concrete ratios and block estimations. In this unit, students will conduct slump tests and compression tests, and will apply their knowledge to a concrete stepping stone project and a 4-course corner lead project with blocks.
This comprehensive curriculum is designed to have every minute of every lesson planned for you. Lessons contain all of the resources necessary to successfully deliver this engaging curriculum. Through detailed Instructor Guides, teachers will feel comfortable, no matter their experience, in teaching this course. Instructor Guides include material lists, a time breakdown for each lesson designed to fill a 45 minute class period, national AFNR standards, instructor pre-work, and an explanation of each component of the lessons, including reflection and conclusion questions/answers. Instructor Resources include all handouts, visuals, keys and slides teachers need to facilitate learning in the classroom. Lessons also include a Student Handout to allow students to further engage in the lessons.
