This 16 day unit from the Introduction to AFNR course focuses on introducing students to woodworking. Students will learn about types of wood, tools and equipment use, general and equipment-specific shop safety, as well as measuring techniques. Students will also apply their knowledge through three wood project options based on student skill level and facilities.

Lessons contain all of the resources necessary to successfully deliver the curriculum. Through detailed Instructor Guides, teachers will feel comfortable, no matter their experience, in teaching this unit. Instructor Guides include material lists, time breakdown for the lesson, national standards, instructor pre-work, and an explanation of each component of the lesson, including reflection and conclusion questions/answers.
