Chips & tips

Do your students struggle envisioning what life is like after high school?

Need a unique FFA meeting activity?

The Chips and Tips FFA Alumni Event was an activity my FFA officers frequently added to our POA and national chapter application where alumni FFA members were invited back to provide tips and insight into careers, college, and life after graduation to our current members.

FFA officers created a panel of alumni members with a variety of experiences and career aspirations - trade school, four-year college, two-year college, military, entrepreneurs, etc.

The FFA event started with a chip and dip buffet for members and panelists provided by the FFA officers. At this time, FFA members could submit questions they had for the panelists to increase engagement in the event.

The FFA president served as the MC for the event and led the panel discussion using these Chips & Tips Panelist Questions

After the alumni panel, panelists moved to tables located around the venue and the officers would facilitate a round-table discussion and FFA members traveled to specific alumni members they wanted to seek additional information from.

This event was extremely simple to facilitate and could be modified in many ways to incorporate other career success skills, such as interviewing, resumes or scholarships.
