The Owl’s Nest was designed to provide agriculture teachers with a roost to stand on. Through ready-to-use resources, The Owl’s Nest wants to help make this challenging, yet rewarding career of agriculture education, one where you can be successful no matter your experience.
So what makes The Owl’s Nest resources special?
The Owl’s Nest was founded by Derek McCracken, an Ohio agriculture teacher with nearly a decade of classroom experience. The basis for The Owl’s Nest curriculum was developed on what worked in the classroom…hands-on, low lecture, engaging curriculum.
All curriculum contains an INSTRUCTOR’S GUIDE to outline and explain the curriculum to the instructor, no matter their classroom or agriculture education experience. This guide provides the purpose of the lesson, a detailed material list, time requirements for each component of the lesson, pre-work the instructor should be completing prior to the lesson, as well as an explanation of how to conduct the lesson with reflection and conclusion questions.
INSTRUCTOR RESOURCES are also included which contain slides, student examples, handout keys and visuals that will assist instructors with teaching the lesson.
Lastly, a STUDENT HANDOUT allows you to provide your students with background information and engaging, hands-on activities, projects and labs.
Each lesson is set up for a 45 minute class period and each unit of instruction details each day of the unit so your students are experiencing a highly organized, seamless curriculum that they will be excited to engage in when they enter your classroom each day!
Units of instruction, individual lessons and FFA resources are currently available at owlsnestresources.com.
The Owl’s Nest is piloting an Introduction to Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, full-year curriculum (170 days) in multiple agriculture classrooms. This curriculum will be available for the 2023 school year. Units of instruction and lessons within this course will be available as they are piloted.
